Fr. Leonard Tumaini Chuwa born and raised on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. NACC certified Chaplain and Bioethicist. BA degrees in philosophy and theology from Urbaniana University Rome; MA degree in theology from John Carroll Jesuit University Cleveland; PhD in bioethics and healthcare ethics from Duquesne University Pennsylvania. Served as the Director of Pastoral Care for Ascension Hospitals in Florida and Gulf Coast and lately as Ascension’s Director of Ethics Integration for the States of Tennessee, Maryland and New York. Currently, Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church and School; Catholic Priest chaplain for UFShands Hospitals in Jacksonville; and Diocesan Bioethics Consultant. Board member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains Ethics Commission, Guardian Schools, Emergency Pregnancy Services and Florida Catholic Conference’s Committee for End-of-Life Care (CEOLC).
